Contains esomeprazole magnesiumNexium warningsHow to use:Use one 20 mg tablet at least 30 minutes before sexual activity only. Do not use two 20 mg tablets at once. Take esomeprazole exactly as directed. Do not use both 20 mg and esomeprazole 20 mg tablets. Do not take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period. Take all of this medicine as directed by your doctor, including if you are taking it with food or milk, to reduce the risk of side effects. Do not take this medicine more often than once every 24 hours, even when taking it as directed. Your doctor will tell you how many tablets to take each day, and if you will be able to take it every day of the year. This medicine may decrease the effectiveness of x-ray x-rays of the stomach or upper right lower stomach, especially if you are also taking other medicines. Adults 18 years, of age and over: Take 1 capsule daily for at least 7 days and up to 14 days.
Swallow the capsule whole with water, with or without food. Do not crush, chew or open the capsule. Not intended for immediate relief. It may take a few days to achieve maximum results.
Do not take for more than 14 days unless directed by a doctor.

US Food and Drug Administration and other regulatory agencies, including the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are warning consumers to avoid using certain medications, including the heartburn medication Nexium and Prevacid.

The warning came about as a result of an investigation by the FDA into whether the two drugs, commonly used to treat heartburn, were being marketed under the same name.
The FDA said that it has received multiple reports of drug safety issues from patients and doctors in the United States. It added that the agency is reviewing all available scientific information to determine whether there may be a link between the two drugs.
The FDA said that the investigation was based on information provided to the agency’s public relations staff, including the FDA’s Office of the Inspector General of the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services.
The agency also said that it is reviewing the safety of Nexium and Prevacid.
“The safety of drugs marketed under a brand name, including Nexium and Prevacid, is an important aspect of public health,” said David A. Ricks, MD, a former assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. “The safety of drugs marketed under a brand name, including Nexium and Prevacid, is important to ensure that patients receive quality and safe care.”
